Dear Kenneth, yes, learning how to use software is intimidating. I hear ya.

but remember, making music is simple, its like making a yummy meal to eat with your friend, or like deciding what an amazing present could be for a friend and then going shopping to get it and wrapping it up ready to give.

or it can be like meditating, special time with just yourself where you can do and feel what ever you like.

or it can be like discovering a women, first seeing her eyes, then asking her a question, then inviting her home with you….

if life is an onion. then music is one layer within the onion. nothing more nothing less. it fits perfectly with everything.

when it comes to software, this is technical, it takes energy from you, it takes time, it take patience, and expect to hit your head against the wall a thousand times. you can make little learning exercises by asking yourself questions…

how does delay sound? how does delay change the sound?

what rhythm makes a nice loop i can listen to for an hour?

what is the lowest note i can play on this synth before it sounds horrible?

how loud can i make this music before it distorts?

like a child…you can push and push and push and make mistakes, and you will soon learn:)

i like to fuck everything up and abuse software as much as possible until i feel like i am in control and i can control the software…or destroy it. mwa ha ha ha. fuck you technology!

music and composition can begin. and from here on in, its just beautiful sailing.
